  | Our 12 acres of landscaped gardens are a constant reminder of the importance of being environmentally aware and we take great pride in being a member of the Green Hotels Association.
OUR COMMITMENT:
In 2005 Hotel Bel-Air became a member of the Green Hotels Association. Over the past year, we have implemented numerous structural updates, internal policies, and procedures that benefit our planet: - Installation of low-flow showerheads.
- Installation of low-flow toilets.
- Staff training: turning off lights and air conditioners when rooms are unoccupied. Also during summer months, closing drapes etc.
- Installation of window film to lower heating and cooling loads and reduce glare in guestrooms.
- Purchased office and guest amenity products that contain recycled material.
- Use of recycled paper products.
- All appliances are Energy Star.
- Solar water heating system for the pool.
- Use of compost bin for leftover food items.
- An organic garden to provide fresh produce to guests.
- Replacement of exit signs with LED signs.
- Filter changes, coil cleaning, thermostat calibration, and damper adjustments in ongoing maintenance plan.
- Monitor, record, and post rates of energy and water use. Make repairs or replace equipment when rate changes indicate problems.
- Energy management system to tie in air handling units, HVAC, and lighting to prevent conditioning space when it's not necessary.
- Incentive program to encourage your staff to participate in and improve upon environmentally-friendly practices.
- Consult outside sources to evaluate the total system when replacing major mechanical equipment.
- Donate leftover guest amenities, old furniture, and appliances to charities.
