Known simply as ‘Table One,’ the Chef’s table at Hotel Bel-Air is the only private in-kitchen dining room in a Los Angeles hotel. The carved pine table is set in a private room with a nine-foot picture window overlooking the kitchen where up to eight guests are invited behind the scenes to enjoy the wonders of a five-star kitchen. Air-conditioned and decorated in French-country style, the Table One dining room is a comfortable yet decadent place to enjoy both the company and conversation of companions while viewing culinary artistry in the kitchen.
An extraordinary and unique experience, Table One is an excellent place to discuss business, as it allows a level of privacy not available in other dining settings. It is ideal for intimate gatherings, such as birthdays, anniversaries or engagements. For an aspiring chef, a meal at Table One, complete with the chef’s discussion of preparation techniques and wine pairing, will be an unforgettable experience.
Table One guests enter the kitchen through the Restaurant. Greeted by the Table One Maitre, guests are guided to a dramatic, artfully arranged seafood display where they are offered a tasting of lobster, crab, shrimp, and oysters. Guests are then welcomed to Table One where a magnificent centerpiece sets the mood.
In the old European tradition, the Chef prepares a distinct seven-course surprise dinner that is unveiled throughout the experience. In advance, the Chef will ask the host if there are any dietary restrictions or requests. Throughout the meal, the Maitre d’ will offer a list of specially selected wine, as well as recommending selections from the Hotel’s award-winning Wine List.
The first course may begin with a tuna tartare, a demitasse of rich bisque or a petite potato pancake topped with smoked salmon. Following are exciting dishes that most discriminating foodies will surely enjoy. Dessert brings a delightful display of crème brulée, tortes, soufflés, petit fours, truffles, cookies or any other sweets the Chef would like share with you.
